Cognac Baltic amber — each bead preserving 44 million years of ancient forest in deep, sun-warmed tones that range from rich honey to dark caramel. Traded along Europe's ancient Amber Road from the Baltic coast to the Mediterranean, cognac amber was prized by Romans and Greeks who believed it captured the golden rays of the setting sun. Unlike most gemstones, amber is organic in origin, occasionally preserving perfectly intact plant matter from an epoch before humanity existed. Each bead is unique in its depth and translucency.
